The Artists

I paint for the pure joy of it! I am a firm believer that “life is better with art” both for myself and my viewers.

As an artist, each step from the challenge of a blank canvas through to the final brush stroke, engages and delights me. For my audience I aspire to create a special place where they can pause and reflect.

Largely self-taught, I have been painting and creating as long as I can remember. Growing up in a rural area surrounded by fields and forests created a strong bond with nature that continues to inspire me today. My art celebrates the special delights of each of the four seasons, using vibrant colours and attention to detail to bring the outside in for my audience.

I am both a figurative and abstract artist. I’m best known for my vibrant watercolour flowers that express my love of gardening and often include details of birds and bugs found in our own back yard. As well, in recent years I have expanded my artistic horizons to include the use of fluid acrylic which ebbs and flows in many wondrous ways allowing me to create an unusual interpretation of nature.

What makes my work unique is my bold and joyful colour choices paired with soft, organic shapes. I push each tube of paint to create richness and vibrancy to capture the colours of nature. It surprises people to learn that my pieces are often created with various mixes of only the three primary colours.

My work is held in private collections in Canada, USA, Australia and Europe. I am an active member of several art associations, exhibiting and selling my art locally. Nature is good for the soul and I consider myself very fortunate to be able to express my love of nature through my art.
