The Artists

Christine is oil and watercolour artist

From an early age Christine has expressed herself through art. Having explored drawing, clay work, copper enamelling, folk art and jewelry making, she has found her niche in oil painting. Drawing inspiration from Nature, she is passionate about the use of bold colours and organic shapes to communicate her perception of her chosen subject, thereby infusing her work with emotion. Christine is mostly self-taught, currently living and painting in Beaconsfield, Quebec. Her artistic practice now comprises both oils and watercolours.

SOLO exhibition

Artist statement

When I look at my world I see shapes, complex forms and textures. I see the way colours dance in the changing light. What I see evokes emotions that drive me to paint. I love the bold colours and the textures of oils. They allow me complete control over the medium to achieve a desired effect. Conversely, watercolours force me to relinquish some of that control to the medium and to embrace the spontaneity of the result. I strive to use these attributes to convey the emotional response my subjects, be they seen or imagined, elicit in me.
