Susan Bardos-Dobbek was born in Hungary and immigrated to Montreal, Canada at an early age. She has obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree with a Fine Art major from McGill University and attended workshops at the Visual Art centre in Montreal. She has explored multimedia compositions and watercolour painting. Most recently, the influence of Asian water media traditions steered her to incorporate her watercolours with expressive brushwork and paper collage created with Japanese “washi” paper and other materials. She is continually experimenting with various mediums such as alcohol inks, and stained-glass paint, – participating in many workshops.
She has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Quebec, Ontario and Hungary. Among her exhibitions are: – M.A.A. – (Montreal Athletic Association), Montreal, Que. In the summer and fall of 2009, Susan participated in the Canadian Hungarian Artists Collective exhibition series entitled “Re:In Situ” which was touring Hungarian museums and galleries, before returning to Canada in 2010. The same exhibit has since toured several Canadian venues, including New Brunswick, Montreal, Gatineau and Ottawa. It includes a kaleidoscope of work of over 40 artists of Hungarian descent from all disciplines, mediums and styles, as well as an exciting selection of avant-garde and commercially successful films and videos.
Susan is a member of: CHAC (Canadian Hungarian Artists Collective) of B.A.A. (Beaconsfield Art Association) and L.A.A. (Lakeshore Artist Association)
