Born
Lazio,Itay. Visual artist working with print media, drawing and painting. Prize from National Congress of Italo-Canadians. Co-founder of the Beaconsfield Artists’ Association and an Honorary Member, serving on the Executive Board for seven years. Lives in Montréal, Québec and creates at her studio, Atelier Matrix with her research into the practice of non-toxic printmaking processes, an ongoing project.
Recently invited to two important global events: the 11th International Printmaking Biennial Douro (2023) and 5 Global Print (2022), both curated by Director, Nuno Canelas, Alijo, Portugal.
Education/Training
D.E.C.Institut des arts appliqués (Arts Plastiques)-CEGEP du Vieux-Montréal. B.F.A. (Painting/Graphics) – Concordia University, recipient of the Walter Stenhouse Bursary (Painting). Diploma in Education (Art) – McGill University, Montréal, QC. Certification from the Ministère de l’Education, Québec City. Studied Graphics with Prof. Irene Whittome, personal work at Open Studio, Toronto (ON) and intaglio workshops at Atelier Evelyn Dufour, Montreal (QC).
Anna prefers to work in various media, exploring their combination using watercolours, pastels, collage and graphics. Her art focuses on universal themes and the human condition. Recently her international works deal with nature in her environmental series. She switched from doing toxic etching to using pure pigments in pastel painting and soy-based inks for printmaking.
Cultural Projects
Participation in over 125 exhibitions, (invitational, juried/non-juried, two persons), nationally and internationally in more than fifteen countries.
- Honoured for outstanding contribution to the Arts plastiques programs (Culture in Schools Arrimage, ARTreach (VAC), Creative Kids Artists Showcase Montreal West) and has been teaching professionally for over twenty five years. Actively involved on the organizing committee and giving intensive workshops for Les semaines de l ‘art engagé (2016-), UNESCO Arts Week at the Centre des femmes d’ici et d’ailleurs and designing their program covers along with the Literacy Québec projects such as The Verdun Stories (2019) and Celebrating 40 Years edition cover (2021).
- Featured by Artists for a Better World International in the YouTube video, Artistic Innovation 2019, inVentura, CA. Published in the Répertoire Estampiers 1997 (Conseil Québécois de l’estampe)and in the Répertoire des Graveurs Contemporains du Québec 1994-1995 (Roussain Editeur Inc.). Member of the Québec Print Council (1992-2006, now ARPRIM) and received Professional Status from RAAV (1997-) and member of the International Association of Art (UNESCO) (1997-), Paris, FR. Invited on the jury panel by the West Island Education Foundation (1997). Invited artist by FILEF for International Women’s Year exhibition, L’art au féminin (1990).
